Sparkling Creativity

Being creative is in all of us….we just need the courage and inspiration to try!

A little bit about me.....I am Donnalene Mastrangelo and I grew up in Tsawwassen, a small town in beautiful British Columbia, Canada.   As a child I always loved working with my hands and creating my own little pieces of art. As an adult my passion to create continues to expand.

In 2003, life took me to the San Francisco area, where the instructors are amazing and my love for jewelry making was born.  I’m a firm believer that we all continue to learn, particularly when we make the effort to do so. I love to take classes in different mediums as I feel getting out of my comfort zone can only help improve my creativity in my chosen craft. I hope to take art classes for the rest of my days! Currently I reside in Sandy, Utah and am loving every moment of this beautiful State.

You’ll notice that my jewelry doesn’t really have what others call a “cohesive line”. I create based on pieces or ideas that speak to me and inspire me. I find stones or unusual pieces along the way that grab me and simply say “create with me”. To date I’ve used handcrafted porcelain cabochons, cut up porcelain plates, artisan glass cabochons (including glass eyes), antique bowling ball pieces, Fordite, Japanese Chokin cabochons, Cholla Cactus wood in resin and part of the Seattle Kingdome.

One stone I plan to offer as long as I can acquire it is BC Ocean Picture Stone. This amazing stone is found in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. I feel so connected to it because that’s where I grew up and most of my family and friends still reside there. I actually even started to do my own lapidary work so I could cut the stones myself. The beautiful blues and amazing landscapes that you often find in this stone are just incredible!

I do have a regular day job but hope eventually I can spend each and every day creating art!  I continue to evolve as an artist so you never know what you might find here.  One thing always leads to another.......
